With BBC's "WW1 at Home" Roadshow in Blackpool 24th June 2014
Cleveley's resident Michael Gerrard is particularly interested in the Accrington Pals and presented us with a framed facsimile of a recruitment poster listing the various recruiting stations in 1914. In return, Nick Holme gave him a CD of "The Pals March" and a leaflet outlining the Band's history. The recruiting stations include Clayton-le-Woods, which was Mr Gerrard's home before retiring to the Fylde Coast. Also listed is Oswaldtwistle Town Hall, now the Civic Arts Centre where the band is based. The day's event was opened by the pipes and drums of the 4th Royal Tank Regiment (augmented by our big bass drum!).
